Indonesia’s Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas) has revealed the success of the Osaka World Forum, which managed to attract investments worth billions of U.S. dollars.

Minister of National Development Planning/Bappenas, Rachmat Pambudy, stated that the organization and execution of the Osaka World Forum exceeded expectations and delivered highly positive outcomes.

“The implementation of the Osaka World Forum surpassed our expectations. As of June, the number of visitors had reached 1.25 million out of the 2.8 million target, while total investment commitments have amounted to US$23.8 billion, equivalent to Rp392.7 trillion at an exchange rate of Rp16,500 per US dollar,” he said during a Public Hearing with Commission XI of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) at the DPR Building in Jakarta, on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.

Pambudy explained that this investment figure was achieved through the Business Forum and cooperation agreements among various stakeholders. Indonesia is leveraging the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, as a platform to attract international investors. The World Expo 2025 is taking place from April 13 to October 13, 2025.

Indonesia’s participation in this globally significant event, held every five years, aims to enhance the country's nation branding on the international stage. The Osaka World Expo 2025 serves as a platform for Indonesia to promote investment opportunities, trade, and tourism, while also strengthening bilateral relations with Japan and other participating countries.

The World Expo 2025 in Osaka involves the participation of 158 countries and 7 international organizations. Indonesia’s presence at this global event is made possible through the collaboration of multiple sectors, including national and regional governments, private sector entities, industry associations, creative communities, and individuals dedicated to advancing cultural development, environmental preservation, and the economic transformation needed to realize the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045.
