Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that the World Bank and credit rating agency S&P Global Ratings have responded positively to Indonesia’s fiscal and economic strategies under President Prabowo Subianto’s administration.
This statement was delivered after Purbaya attended a series of meetings during the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Spring Meetings held in Washington, D.C., United States.
He explained that there had previously been doubts among international stakeholders regarding the government’s ability to maintain fiscal discipline while simultaneously driving economic growth. However, following the explanations presented during the meetings, those concerns were said to have subsided.
According to him, international parties expressed strong satisfaction with the strategy presented, indicating that doubts about Indonesia’s ability to implement sound fiscal policies while fostering economic growth have largely disappeared.
Purbaya emphasized that the government’s national economic strategy is not solely focused on maintaining fiscal health, but also on accelerating growth through well-calibrated and structured policies.
The World Bank also showed a constructive response. He noted that the institution has even explored further opportunities for strategic cooperation that could provide mutual benefits for both the Indonesian government and the World Bank.
