The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) is expected to move sideways in trading on Friday (April 17, 2026). In the previous session on Thursday (April 16, 2026), the index closed slightly lower by 0.03% at 7,621.3. After opening in positive territory and fluctuating throughout the day, the index eventually ended with a मामinal decline.

Positive sentiment continues to stem from expectations of potential negotiations between the United States and Iran, which could bring an end to the conflict and ease crude oil prices. However, from a technical perspective, the IHSG remains in an overbought zone, triggering profit-taking activity and leading to a projected sideways movement within the range of 7,550 to 7,700, according to Phintraco Sekuritas.

Meanwhile, the rupiah recorded a modest appreciation of 0.02%, closing at Rp17,136 per US dollar, supported by strengthening regional currencies on the same day. Amid geopolitical uncertainty and concerns over domestic economic prospects, Bank Indonesia Rupiah Securities (SRBI) have become a favored investment instrument due to their relatively attractive yields.

The depreciation pressure on the rupiah has prompted Bank Indonesia to intervene, with SRBI serving as a tool to absorb excess rupiah liquidity and help stabilize the exchange rate. BI has also increased the frequency of SRBI auctions from once to twice a week since February 2026, in response to the continued weakening of the rupiah.

In global markets, European stock indices opened higher, following gains in Asian markets on Thursday (April 16, 2026). Investors were reacting to data showing the UK’s GDP grew by 0.5% month-on-month in February 2026, up from 0.1% in January, marking the strongest growth since January 2024.

At the same time, inflation in the Euro Area rose to 2.6% year-on-year in March 2026 from 1.9% in February 2026. This marks the highest level since July 2024, primarily driven by rising energy costs.

For Friday’s trading session (April 17, 2026), Phintraco Sekuritas recommends several stocks for trading, namely ICBP, INTP, MYOR, EMTK, and NCKL.
