Indonesian Government Allocates Rp 144.6 Trillion for Food Security in 2025
The Indonesian government has allocated Rp 144.6 trillion to ensure national food security amidst potential global food disruptions expected in 2025. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, announced that the budget will be used for various strategies aimed at addressing food security challenges and supporting domestic agricultural productivity.
This statement was made by Airlangga during a press conference following the High-Level Meeting of the Central Inflation Control Team, held at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs in Jakarta on Friday (31/1/2025), as reported by liputan6.com on (2/1/2025).
"The 2025 food security budget is allocated to protect the country from global food disruptions. The government has set aside Rp 144.6 trillion," said Airlangga.
"Various strategies will be implemented, including food diversification, price stability, and improving farmers' productivity," he added.
State Budget Support for Food Security
Airlangga further explained that the support from the State Budget (APBN) will not be limited to direct subsidies, but will also include funding for infrastructure development to support the agricultural sector, such as irrigation networks and agricultural roads.
Equally important, the government will strengthen non-physical aspects, such as enhancing education quality through food literacy programs and strengthening agricultural extension services and veterinary health centers (Puskeswan).
"Moreover, the APBN support for food security will also be provided through specific location-based funds (TKD), such as the construction of irrigation networks, agricultural roads, and improving services for agricultural extension workers and Puskeswan," he concluded.
