DIGIVESTASI - The government has launched 14 new national strategic projects (PSN) to support economic growth. This was decided in an internal meeting between President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and a number of ministers at the State Palace, Monday (March 18).

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto explained that funding for the 14 new PSNs will only come from the private sector. The new PSNs create jobs and do not require the State Budget. 

"And this has been approved by the President, with new adjustments to the PSN nomenclature and changes in the scope of the PSN itself," said Airlangga, Monday, March 18, at the Presidential Palace Complex. Contacted separately, Special Staff to the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Wahyu Utomo said that many of the new PSN are industrial estates (KI). Therefore, the Committee for the Acceleration of Priority Infrastructure Development (KPPIP) stated that the greatest potential exists when the entire area is filled with tenants who are expected to enter the industrial estate.

Based on the assumption of the industrial estate, the total investment of the industrial estate and the maximum project is Rp 1,400 trillion. However, in the near future, industrial estates built to support PSN and several PSN infrastructure projects can reach a total value of IDR 466 trillion, Wahyu told Contan, Friday (March 22). 

The 14 new PSN developments were carried out in several areas of Riau Islands, Banten, DKI Jakarta, West Java, East Java, East Kalimantan, Central Sulawesi, and Southeast Sulawesi. Meanwhile, the 14 new PSN developments consist of 8 industrial estates, 2 tourist areas, 2 toll roads, 1 education, research and technical field, health field, and 1 offshore oil and gas project. 

ATR Minister and BPN Secretary Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) said development is always about land acquisition. It also depends on the existence of people who live in the place you want to build.

The ministry said it will investigate the situation on the ground first before issuing certificates. This is intended to ensure that affected communities receive adequate compensation from the state.

AHY also assured that land acquisition for PSN bases will not cause problems in the future. The land used must be clean and tidy. The clear principle is how we want PSN development to be smoother, gradual, fast, and good, AHY said.
