Starting February 1, 2025, 3 Kg LPG Can No Longer Be Purchased from Retailers
The government is set to implement a new policy to ensure that energy subsidies are distributed more effectively. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has confirmed that starting February 1, 2025, official Pertamina agents will no longer be allowed to sell 3-kilogram (kg) LPG to retailers.
This policy aims to improve the LPG distribution system, ensuring that usage remains well-regulated and targeted at those in need. With this new rule, the government expects that consumer prices will remain within the regulated limits, preventing price surges caused by improper distribution.
Retailers who wish to transition into official distributors can register through the Online Single Submission (OSS) system to obtain a Business Identification Number (NIB). The OSS system is integrated with the Ministry of Home Affairs' population database, making the registration process more seamless and transparent.
Once this regulation is enforced, 3-kg LPG distribution will be conducted directly from official distributors to consumers, eliminating the role of retailers, ensuring better price stability and more accurate subsidy allocation.
