IDX Adjusts to 12% VAT Implementation Starting January 2025
DIGIVESTASI - The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) will adjust its implementation of Value Added Tax (VAT), which will increase to 12% starting January 2025. According to IDX Circular No. S-13561/BEI.KEU/12-2024, transactions conducted after January 1, 2025, will be subject to a 12% VAT rate. However, invoices issued before that date will remain subject to the 11% VAT rate.
For example, for a transaction fee of IDR 100,000, the VAT charged will still be IDR 11,000. Before January 1, 2025, the calculation is 11% x IDR 100,000, resulting in IDR 11,000. After the adjustment, the new formula becomes 12% x (11/12) x IDR 100,000, which also results in IDR 11,000.
Tomi Taufan, Director of PT Mirae Asset Sekuritas Indonesia, welcomed the policy positively. He stated that the policy offers a breath of fresh air for Mirae Asset and the capital market industry as a whole, while also starting the new year of 2025 with a more optimistic spirit.
