The distribution of aid for flash flood victims in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra is currently still limited. The Deputy of the National Food Agency, Ketut Astawa, highlighted the challenges in delivering assistance to the west coast areas where land access has been cut off.
“For Sibolga City and its surrounding regions, including Central Tapanuli, we are preparing to carry out air distribution together with the Indonesian Air Force. Access from Medan and from Ferdinand Lumbantobing Airport in Pinangsori remains highly restricted due to damaged land routes,” he said on Tuesday (2/12/2025).
He also noted that these conditions significantly affect food supply to Nias Island.
“The situation in Sibolga must be carefully anticipated because it can impact neighboring regions such as Nias. Therefore, rapid intervention is essential to maintain food stability and prevent the community from bearing an even heavier burden amid the disaster,” he explained.
Ketut Astawa confirmed that the National Food Agency, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Bulog, regional governments, and all stakeholders, will begin phased shipments of rice as soon as access routes and weather conditions allow, with priority given to high-risk evacuation zones.
Earlier reports stated that Perum Bulog had distributed more than 287 tons of Regional Government Food Reserves (CPPD) to flood-affected areas in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
President Director of Perum Bulog, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, detailed that as of 30 November 2025, CPPD distribution included 152,893 kilograms (kg) for Aceh Province, 72,630 kg for North Sumatra, and 61,554 kg for West Sumatra.
“As a result, the total CPPD rice delivered to the three provinces has exceeded 287 tons,” Rizal said in a press release quoted on Monday (1/12/2025).
To strengthen the availability of food supplies and accelerate distribution recovery, Perum Bulog has also increased rice stocks in several regions, including 1,562 tons for Sibolga from Jakarta and Medan, and 1,650 tons for Nias from Jakarta and Padang.
