President Prabowo Subianto departed for disaster-affected areas on Sumatra Island today, Monday (December 1, 2025), at around 6:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time. From the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta, he flew to Raja Sisingamangaraja XII Airport in North Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra Province.
During the visit, the Head of State is scheduled to directly inspect conditions on the ground, including several points that sustained damage and disruptions to essential public services. Prabowo will also ensure that emergency response measures have been implemented according to fast, accurate, and well-coordinated disaster-handling standards.
The government is also preparing recovery efforts for essential infrastructure, including road access, bridges, energy supply, telecommunications networks, and health services. Accompanying the President on this inspection are Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported that the total number of fatalities from the floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra has reached 442 people as of November 30, 2025.
Meanwhile, 402 people are still missing; 646 individuals were injured; and approximately 290,700 residents have been displaced. Overall, the disaster has affected 1.1 million people as of November 30, 2025.
At the same time, the disaster has also caused damage to housing and infrastructure. BNPB recorded 827 houses as severely damaged, 694 houses moderately damaged, and 1,300 houses slightly damaged. Additionally, 43 educational facilities and 133 bridges were reported damaged.
