President Prabowo Subianto has returned to Indonesia after completing overseas visits to Pakistan and Russia.
Instead of landing in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, he arrived at Kualanamu International Airport in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra, early Friday morning (December 12). After flying from Moscow with his ministers, he immediately continued his trip to Medan.

In Medan, President Prabowo is scheduled to inspect several areas affected by the recent flash floods and landslides.

He will then chair a coordination meeting on disaster response for three provinces in Sumatra: Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

According to Antara, the Garuda Indonesia-1 aircraft with registration PK-GIG carrying Prabowo landed at Kualanamu around 02:00 WIB. During the flight from Moscow, he was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

At the airport apron, President Prabowo was welcomed by State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Head of the Government Communication Agency Angga Raka Prabowo, and North Sumatra Governor Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution.

This visit marks Prabowo’s second trip to North Sumatra following his inspection of disaster-hit areas in Central Tapanuli on December 1, 2025.

Several districts and cities in North Sumatra, along with regions in Aceh and West Sumatra, were struck by flash floods and landslides on November 25, 2025. Nearly a thousand people were found dead, and hundreds more remain missing.

In a press briefing on Thursday (December 11), the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported that as of December 11, 2025, the death toll had reached 990. The breakdown includes 407 fatalities in Aceh, 343 in North Sumatra, and 240 in West Sumatra.

Meanwhile, 225 people were still reported missing as of Thursday.

BNPB also announced that the number of displaced residents across the three provinces had risen to 884,889 people.

Additionally, total relief supplies sent to Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra from November 28 to December 11, 2025 amounted to 498 tons, with 351.4 tons already distributed via land, sea, and air.
