Breaking! Indonesia Collects Rp 41.09 Trillion from Crypto and P2P Lending Taxes

The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) of the Ministry of Finance reported that tax revenue from the digital economy sector reached Rp 41.09 trillion as of August 31, 2025. This amount came from multiple business segments.

“With Rp 41.09 trillion realized, digital taxation has increasingly proven its role as a key driver of state revenue in today’s digital era,” said Rosmauli, DJP’s Director of Counseling, Services, and Public Relations, in a written statement on Friday (Sept 26, 2025).

 

The breakdown is as follows:

  • VAT on Electronic-Based Trading (PMSE): Rp 31.85 trillion

  • Tax on crypto assets: Rp 1.61 trillion

  • Fintech (P2P lending) taxes: Rp 3.99 trillion

  • Taxes collected via the Government Procurement Information System (SIPP): Rp 3.63 trillion

 

As of August 2025, the government had appointed 236 companies as VAT collectors for PMSE. Four new appointees included Blackmagic Design Asia Pte Ltd, Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, PIA Private Internet Access Inc, and Neon Commerce Inc, while one collector, TP Global Operations Limited, had its appointment revoked.

 

Out of all designated collectors, 201 PMSE entities have actively collected and remitted VAT, totaling Rp 31.85 trillion, consisting of Rp 731.4 billion (2020), Rp 3.90 trillion (2021), Rp 5.51 trillion (2022), Rp 6.76 trillion (2023), Rp 8.44 trillion (2024), and Rp 6.51 trillion up to August 2025.

 

Meanwhile, crypto tax revenues reached Rp 1.61 trillion up to August 2025, derived from Rp 246.45 billion (2022), Rp 220.83 billion (2023), Rp 620.4 billion (2024), and Rp 522.82 billion (2025).

“Crypto tax revenue consists of Rp 770.42 billion from Income Tax Article 22 and Rp 840.08 billion from domestic VAT,” Rosmauli explained.

 

For fintech taxation, the total revenue as of August 2025 amounted to Rp 3.99 trillion, comprising Rp 446.39 billion (2022), Rp 1.11 trillion (2023), Rp 1.48 trillion (2024), and Rp 952.55 billion (2025).

“Fintech taxes consist of Rp 1.11 trillion from Income Tax Article 23 on loan interest for domestic taxpayers and permanent establishments, Rp 724.32 billion from Income Tax Article 26 on foreign taxpayers, and Rp 2.15 trillion from domestic VAT submissions,” Rosmauli detailed.

 

Additional revenue from the digital economy also came from SIPP tax collections, which amounted to Rp 3.63 trillion by August 2025. This included Rp 402.38 billion (2022), Rp 1.12 trillion (2023), Rp 1.33 trillion (2024), and Rp 786.3 billion (2025).

“SIPP tax revenue is comprised of Rp 242.31 billion from Income Tax Article 22 and Rp 3.39 trillion from VAT,” she concluded.
