With the revival of the Simpati brand after a four-year hiatus, Telkomsel is now repositioning Simpati as its primary offering in the prepaid mobile segment. So, what does this mean for Telkomsel Prepaid?
Back in mid-June 2021, Telkomsel underwent a major transformation that went beyond just a logo change. It also involved the consolidation of all its prepaid brands — including Simpati, As, and Loop — under a single umbrella called Telkomsel Prepaid. However, Telkomsel has now decided to bring Simpati back into the spotlight.
“For our customers, everything will be seamlessly transitioned into the Simpati product. So starting today, Telkomsel Prepaid will become Simpati, and users will continue to receive their benefits,” stated Telkomsel’s Vice President of Brand and Marketing Communications, Abdullah Fahmi, during a press event at Telkomsel Smart Office, Jakarta, on Monday (May 26, 2025).
Customers won’t be required to re-register at Grapari outlets or take any additional steps, as the shift from Telkomsel Prepaid to Simpati will not affect service continuity.
“There is no need for customers to change their SIM cards or make any modifications. Existing users can still purchase all available Simpati packages, and previous Simpati users will continue enjoying the full range of services,” added Abdullah Fahmi, Telkomsel’s Vice President of Prepaid Consumer Marketing.
Through the Simpati brand, Telkomsel is targeting six specific customer segments: those who enjoy watching videos, listening to music, online shopping, gaming, engaging in educational content, and those seeking online safety and security.
To note, over its 30 years of operation, Telkomsel has amassed more than 158.8 million mobile subscribers, with approximately 150 million being prepaid users. These services are supported by a network of more than 278,100 base transceiver stations (BTS). Additionally, Telkomsel’s fixed broadband service IndiHome currently serves more than 9.8 million subscribers.
