Xpeng to Launch Mass Production of Flying Car, Set for Take-Off in 2026

Wan Chai, Hong Kong – Chinese EV manufacturer Xpeng is venturing beyond electric cars and into the skies. Through its subsidiary, Xpeng AeroHT, the company has announced plans to begin mass production of its flying vehicle, the Land Aircraft Carrier, with deliveries expected in 2026.

"Pre-orders have already started in China, and the first batch will be delivered to customers in 2026," said Wang Tan, Co-Founder and Vice President of Xpeng AeroHT at the recent Xpeng Global Experience Day in Hong Kong.

Modular Design: Road and Air Mobility Combined

The Land Aircraft Carrier features a modular concept, consisting of a six-wheeled mothership that houses the flying vehicle. When needed, the flying unit detaches and takes off.

Initially, the flying car will operate at low altitudes for urban and suburban transport. In the medium term, it will enable inter-city travel, and in the long run, Xpeng envisions seamless point-to-point air transportation.

User-Friendly and Autonomous Capabilities

According to Wang, operating the flying car is extremely easy. "In three minutes, you can learn to fly it. Within three hours, you can master it," he claimed. The aircraft supports manual control as well as autonomous flight, allowing users to relax and enjoy the aerial view.

Xpeng prioritizes safety, incorporating redundancy across vital systems such as flight control, powertrain, low-voltage circuits, power supply, and communication.

The aircraft can cover up to 20 kilometers per flight, with a duration of approximately 15–20 minutes.

High-Tech Mothership, Global Ambitions

The six-wheeled mothership doubles as a mobile charging station for the flying vehicle. Measuring 5.5 meters long, 2 meters wide, and 2 meters tall, the vehicle boasts all-wheel drive, rear-wheel steering, and dual differential locks for off-road conditions. It seats four passengers comfortably.

"This vehicle is essentially a giant power bank, capable of recharging the flying car up to six times," Wang added.

Xpeng plans to expand its market globally, with Indonesia among the potential launch countries. Priced under USD 300,000—less than IDR 5 billion—the flying car is considered significantly more affordable than many supercars currently available in Indonesia.
