IHSG Weakens for Two Consecutive Days, Investors Remain Cautious

The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) closed in the red zone again on Tuesday (February 25, 2025), extending its previous day's decline. This downturn coincided with the official launch of the Investment Management Agency (BPI) Daya Anagata Nusantara (Danantara) by the government.

Presidential Special Advisor, Bambang Brodjonegoro, stated that the decline in IHSG indicates that investors are still in a wait-and-see mode. According to him, market players are waiting for clarity on whether Danantara will enhance the performance of state-owned enterprises (BUMN).

"We can see that the market often adopts a wait-and-see approach. Investors likely want assurance on whether Danantara will truly improve BUMN performance," Bambang said at Sopo Del Tower, Jakarta, on Tuesday (February 25, 2025).

Investor Concerns Over Dividends, Bambang Assures Their Interests Remain a Priority

Bambang also addressed concerns among investors regarding the potential reduction in BUMN dividend payouts following their asset transfers to Danantara. However, he assured that investor interests remain a top priority for BUMN companies.

"There is a misconception among investors. They fear that BUMN, which typically provides generous dividends, may lower their payouts. But I am confident that this is not part of the strategy," he explained.

He further emphasized that publicly traded BUMN companies will continue to prioritize the interests of minority investors.

"Retail and minority investors in the stock market will remain a key focus for all publicly listed BUMN companies," he added.

Prabowo Officially Launches Danantara to Manage Rp 14.7 Quadrillion in Assets

As a major development, President Prabowo Subianto officially launched BPI Danantara on Monday (February 24, 2025) at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta. This institution is set to manage state and BUMN assets worth US$ 900 billion, equivalent to Rp 14.715 trillion (based on an exchange rate of Rp 16,350 per USD).

"Today, Monday, February 24, 2025, I, as the President of Indonesia, officially launch the Investment Management Agency Daya Anagata Nusantara, Danantara Indonesia," Prabowo announced.

Danantara's initial investment phase will prioritize key sectors, including nickel and bauxite downstream processing, data center development, artificial intelligence, and food security.

In this first stage, Danantara is set to allocate US$ 20 billion (approximately Rp 327 trillion), which will be channeled into 20 national strategic projects (PSN) across various industries.
