The Indonesia Composite Stock Index (IHSG) broke through the 8,000 level today, Friday (August 15, 2025) at 10:29 a.m. local time. The index rose by 80.71 points or 1.02%, reaching 8,011.96.

This milestone coincided with President Prabowo Subianto’s speech at the Annual Session of the MPR and the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD.

In today’s trading, 283 stocks gained, 327 declined, and 344 remained unchanged. The total transaction value stood at IDR 20.25 trillion, involving 27.11 billion shares across 876,900 transactions.

Mahendra Siregar, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK), stated that the IHSG’s upward trend reflects the fundamental performance of companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX).

According to him, the index’s rise is not only a representation of large companies’ performance but also mid-sized companies.

“In general, this is not merely a reflection of the performance and fundamentals of large corporations. In fact, what is particularly strong here is the performance of mid-tier companies, not only those in the LQ45,” Mahendra explained at the UGM Samator Education Building, South Jakarta, Thursday (August 15, 2025).

Furthermore, Mahendra noted that the IHSG’s strength also reflects shifts in market sentiment toward a broader scope, namely macroeconomic and global conditions. He said this provides a degree of certainty after previous market concerns.

“In recent times, there has been slightly more certainty—not absolute or complete certainty, of course, because some factors can still be dynamic and change. But at the very least, there is now better clarity compared to three to four months ago,” he concluded.
