PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) successfully posted a revenue of US$ 3.48 billion or approximately Rp 56.37 trillion (using an exchange rate of Rp 16,200) in 2024, reflecting a 4.48% increase from US$ 3.33 billion in 2023. The company’s profit also soared by 69.31%, rising from US$ 329.9 million or Rp 5.34 trillion in 2023 to US$ 558.60 million or Rp 9.04 trillion in 2024.

“This strong financial performance demonstrates that the business transformation we’ve implemented is on the right track, and reaffirms PIS’s position as one of Asia’s reputable maritime logistics companies,” stated PIS Corporate Secretary Muhammad Baron in a written statement on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.

According to him, this business growth not only marks a milestone for the company but also increases its role in supporting national energy security.

Throughout 2024, PIS remained committed to delivering excellent service to ensure safe and efficient energy distribution across the country. As the backbone of fuel and LPG distribution in Indonesia, PIS reported having transported 161 billion liters of energy in the form of fuel and LPG during the year.

To support this distribution, PIS ensured peak performance by utilizing vessels that meet international standards. In 2024, the company expanded its fleet with the addition of 10 new tankers, including four VLGCs (Very Large Gas Carriers).

The VLGCs include Pertamina Gas Caspia, Pertamina Gas Dahlia, Pertamina Gas Tulip, and Pertamina Gas Bergenia. Additional tankers such as PIS Jawa, PIS Kalimantan, PIS Kerinci, PIS Rinjani, PIS Rokan, and PIS Natuna were also added. This brought the company’s total fleet to 102 vessels by the end of 2024.

Baron emphasized that this marks the first time in Pertamina’s history that it has operated a fleet exceeding 100 vessels—an achievement that serves as a point of pride for Indonesia.

“PIS is consistently enhancing its fleet and expanding domestic cargo transport capacity to meet growing national energy demands. We aim to increase our transport capacity to ensure stable energy supply and support the Asta Cita vision of national energy independence,” Baron explained.

As of 2024, PIS-operated vessels had successfully sailed across 65 international routes—a significant increase from just 11 routes in 2021—and this number is expected to grow. This proves that Indonesian vessels and seafarers are capable of competing globally.

To accommodate global customers and an expanding network of routes, PIS, through its subsidiary PIS Asia Pacific, now operates three branch offices located in Singapore, Dubai, and London. These international branches have significantly boosted PIS’s non-captive revenue share from 4% in 2021 to 19% in 2024.

This growth in non-captive markets reflects growing trust from global corporations in PIS and confirms the company’s commitment to world-class service standards.

With these milestones—both in fleet management and revenue achievements—PIS has solidified its status as the leading maritime logistics company in Southeast Asia.

Furthermore, PIS relies on skilled and reliable human resources. As of now, the company employs around 6,000 officers, including some of Indonesia’s finest seafarers, to help maintain national energy resilience.

As a major player in the maritime industry committed to elevating Indonesia's profile on the global stage, PIS has also implemented various programs and certification standards to improve the skills and capacity of Indonesian seafarers, enabling them to navigate international waters.

“We are grateful that PIS’s achievements, driven by increasingly efficient business transformation, have contributed positively to the growth of the national maritime sector. This reflects our commitment to revitalize local industries and drive sustainable economic development in Indonesia,” Baron concluded.
