President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring justice for all Indonesians, especially in the area of taxation.
“We will enforce just laws. I will personally review our tax system,” said Prabowo during the International Labor Day (May Day) event held at the National Monument (Monas), Central Jakarta, on Thursday (May 1, 2025).
He emphasized a fair taxation principle, where tax obligations are based on income levels.
“Those earning higher incomes should pay more taxes. If your income is low, why should you be burdened heavily? It’s okay to just pay a small amount,” Prabowo asserted.
He further revealed that the soon-to-be-established National Workers’ Welfare Council will be responsible for assessing labor conditions and advising the President.
“This council will study workers' situations and advise me on any laws that are unfair or fail to protect labor rights. If a regulation is flawed, we’ll fix it right away,” he concluded.
