The Jakarta Provincial Government will determine the UMP 2024 increase this afternoon, Friday (11/17/2023).

The Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy Agency (Disnakertransgi) will hold a Wage Council Meeting this afternoon to determine the amount of the 2024 Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP). According to the plan, the Wage Council Meeting will be held at Jakarta City Hall at around 1:00 PM.

Hari Nugroho, the head of Disnakertransgi DKI, stated that the meeting would involve employers, workers, and independent experts from universities, LIPI, and BPS.

"During the Wage Council Meeting, independent experts, including those from universities, LIPI, and BPS, will also be involved," he said when confirmed on Friday (12/17/2023).

Leakage of UMP DKI 2024

Hari said that the calculation of the UMP 2024 increase would follow the formula stipulated in Government Regulation (PP) Number 51 of 2023. "We already have the rules in PP Number 51 of 2023; the formula is already there," he said.

According to this regulation, there are three variables that determine the amount of the UMP 2024 increase: inflation, economic growth, and a specific index ranging from 0.1 to 0.3.

The specific index figure is within the authority of the government. Meanwhile, inflation and economic growth values refer to calculations carried out by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).

These three variables are then combined with the formula:

UMP = inflation + (economic growth X specific index).

"The calculation of UMP already has its formula. If the meeting goes smoothly, there will be a single figure recommended to the governor," he said.

Referring to this new formula, the increase in UMP DKI 2024 is unlikely to be significant, estimated to be less than 5 percent.

This means that if the current UMP DKI is IDR 4.9 million, the increase in UMP 2024 is expected to be no more than IDR 5.1 million.

This amount is certainly not in line with the demands of workers who insist on a 15 percent increase in UMP 2024, or IDR 5.6 million.

Hari said that such a proposal could not be accepted if it did not comply with the UMP calculation set by the central government.
