DIGIVESTASI - Government Allocates IDR 71 Trillion for Free Nutritious Meal Program. A budget of IDR 71 trillion has been allocated for the free nutritious meal program as part of an agreement between President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) administration and President-elect Prabowo Subianto. This information was conveyed by Thomas Djiwandono from the Prabowo-Gibran Administration's Synchronization Task Force.

Thomas explained that this budget figure was agreed upon through a series of meetings and must go through the National Budget (APBN) cycle. "The IDR 71 trillion figure that has been presented is an agreement between the current government [Jokowi] and the upcoming government [Prabowo]. Of course, we have to wait for the APBN cycle process in the DPR later," said Thomas during the Press Conference on Current Economic Fundamentals and the 2025 Draft State Budget (RAPBN), Monday (June 24, 2024).

Thomas believes that the IDR 71 trillion budget in the 2025 APBN for the free nutritious meal program is a very positive step. He emphasized that the program would be implemented gradually, adhering to the principles of fiscal posture and quality spending, ensuring that the program can run fully.

"With the agreed budget amount, the future APBN deficit will be guaranteed," said Thomas.

Additionally, Thomas affirmed that President-elect Prabowo Subianto is ready to take responsibility for the deficit targets set by the government. "The President-elect is committed to the deficit or deficit targets that will be agreed upon by the current government and the DPR," he stated. He also asserted that a debt-to-GDP ratio projected to exceed 50% is unlikely.

Thomas added that they would remain committed to the targets set for the next administration's programs. "We remain committed to the targets that have been planned for the current government and will be agreed upon by the DPR," he concluded.
