DIGIVESTASI - Head and Deputy Head of the Capital City Authority (OIKN), Bambang Susantono and Dhony Rahajoe, recently resigned, drawing public attention. Analysis from former Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas from 2014-2015, Andrinof Chaniago, revealed the reasons behind their decision.

In an interview with Focus On Infra CNBC Indonesia on Monday (17/6/2024), Andrinof explained that the project was burdened by overly ambitious short-term targets. Complex preparations within a short period, such as setting up ceremony venues, the presidential and vice-presidential offices, and several ministerial offices, posed one of the main challenges.

Andrinof also commented on the additional burdens faced by IKN officials, including expanding the mission and functions of IKN into a business district. Despite targeting global-class investors, the market for this project may not necessarily attract large investors.

"While there are expectations to gather IDR 1,000 trillion, such a goal is not realistic," he said.

According to Andrinof, the set targets were overly ambitious considering the phased planning of IKN until 2045.

He suggested that the development concept of IKN be reevaluated, especially regarding resolving land issues and preparing a more realistic business area for entrepreneurs.

"The development should be well-adjusted, finding a middle ground and more realistic business areas," he added.
