Muslim Leaders’ Meeting with Donald Trump
A closed-door meeting between Muslim world leaders, including Indonesia, and U.S. President Donald Trump was held on the sidelines of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in New York to discuss the Gaza conflict. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan described the session as “highly productive.”

According to Anadolu Agency and Reuters on Wednesday (September 24, 2025), the gathering took place on Tuesday (September 23) local time, with Trump, Erdogan, and other Muslim leaders in attendance, including Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.

A Reuters photo showed Jordan’s King Abdullah II, Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan also present at the meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, when journalists were briefly allowed inside, Trump repeatedly referred to the session as “the most important meeting.”

“We want to end the war in Gaza. We want to stop it. Maybe we can even end it right now,” Trump told reporters at the opening of the talks.

“This is my most important meeting,” he emphasized.

“But this is very significant to me because we are trying to put an end to something that should never have begun,” Trump added, as quoted by The Times of Israel.

Trump further mentioned that the meeting was attended by “all the major players except Israel, but that will be next,” seemingly referring to his upcoming talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House next week.

The meeting brought together leaders and senior officials from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia, and Pakistan.

Details of the closed-door session have not yet been released, but after the meeting concluded, Trump stated it was “very successful,” without elaborating further.

In a separate statement, Erdogan echoed the sentiment, calling the meeting with Trump “very productive and positive.” He also said that the discussion on Gaza was “highly fruitful.”

Speaking to reporters in New York after the event, Erdogan noted that a joint declaration from the meeting would soon be published. He expressed that he was “satisfied” with the outcome but refrained from providing additional details.

As a NATO member, Turkey has strongly condemned Israel’s military offensive in Gaza, labeling it as genocide. Ankara has also suspended all trade with Tel Aviv, urged international measures against Israel, and called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
